Sweet MAC Giveaway!

Don’t forget to enter our draw for products from MAC’s Painterly, In 3D Lipglass, and funky fresh Flashtronic lines.
We think the Painterly Paint Pot Eye shadows, which will be part of MAC’s permanent collection, are going to be a classic product. The long lasting cream shadow stays put, and can be applied with fingertips for a soft look or a shadow brush for bolder colour. Paint Pots are available in some beautiful colours, too.
In this show, Airdrie compares the old Tampax Tampon to the New “Improved” Tampax Tampon. Airdrie prefers the old engineering, but you be the judge. In the following photos “regular” size tampons are compared:
Old (Left) and New (Right)
Remember back in 1985 when they introduced the “New Coke” and there was a huge backlash? From that controversy the old “Coke Classic” was re-introduced. I wonder if we will see a similar revolt with the Tampax Tampons; or am i the only one who cares? I doubt it.
Update: March 2008 — Sign the Online Petition to bring back the old Tampax

looking at it, i think the tampax will be better because the old kind could sometimes be a-little-too-long and feel annoying! alrighty, must go enter draw, check out MM video.

- I’ve been off Tampax for a while, although from the looks of the water glass seems like the new ones do expand quite well…
- We also have pup noises on our Canucks podcast due to JJ and his pal Baumer. It adds to the “ambiance” hehe.
- …and KA – so glad you podcast drunk too errr I mean, have a glass of wine while recording ;-)
hi nice post, i enjoyed it
Red Earth is available at Ulta Stores in the U.S!!!!
(or Ulta.com)
I have just tried the new Tampax and have already had two unbelievable leaks while using a Super. after 20 plus years with theset things, this has NEVER happened to me.
I’ve used Tampax from the first day I got my period, 25 years ago. Now I’m switching to Playtex, because the new Tampax design SUCKS big time. It hurts after it’s inserted and it leaks. Some man must’ve designed the new version.
After 35 years of faithful use, I will be switching from Tampax tampons as well because the new design stinks. More leakage, which was never a problem before, and not very comfortable.
At 45 years old, I’ve used Tampax my entire period-life. Since the design change I’ve had nothing but leaks, discomfort, and more leaks. I’ve ruined more clothes in the last five cycles than in my whole life. Needs to be changed about three times more often, and I’M MISERABLE!! I hope there’s something out there similar to the old design, because these things are a wreck! They are so bad that they have prompted me to google and type out my angst about my TAMPONS, for crying out loud! It’s a sad day.
I just started using the new tamopax design after finishing my old box of the old design. The new ones hurt and leak!!! Yikes. I’m going to have to switch brands.
They DO suck. I just e-mailed a complaint to them today at the attached link:
http://www.tampaxcanada.ca/ca_en/contactus.php
Glad to hear there are others out there who have had the same misery with the new product (I thought it was just me). I’ve switched products as of yesterday, two pairs of panties were ruined and I had several other close calls. Not only does the new product leak, it also feels horrible. I will also be emailing the company and letting them know they lost a valued customer.
I hate the new Tampax! 3 months ago, I searched through several stores to find one that still had the older product on the shelf and bought a few boxes. Now, I’m out of them and back to the new, completely ineffective design. I had been a faithful Tampax user since 1979. No more. Can anyone recommend a good alternative? I dislike the Playtex plastic applicator.
I hate the new tampax. They HURT. The little web thing feels like sandpaper. I have tried store brands and found Kroger store brand to be the best. Ralphes has them if you are on the west coast. They are the closest to the Tampax that I have found, they even seem to have a thicker cardboard then Tampax.
The new design is the devil’s handiwork. What was P&G going for, here?
Uncomfortable? CHECK.
Feels like it’s about to fall out? As in, you cough, and feel it pushing out? CHECK.
Have to shove the damned thing back up with your finger after said coughing fit? CHECK.
Need to change a super every two hours, when you could go double or more with that with the old design? CHECK.
I am honestly confounded by what they thought was wrong in the first place. I wrote in a complaint a few months ago and got a survey after that at some point.
And yet, I still comb the shelves of drugstores for Tampax Classic in vain. Got my period this week and have been repeatedly praying to find an “old” tampon under the vanity. No luck. Hate these new ones, but hate Playtex worse. I guess they figure they have a captive audience.
[...] revisit Airdrie’s August 2007 post about the new “improved” Tampax, which we’ve been getting mail and comments about it since. As Kristin says, [...]
The new Tampax are simply awful! They don’t perform as well, they actually hurt, perhaps due to the expansion in width only, and possibly hurt because there is potentially more rayon in them? Plus the stubby little things leak!
The applicator is harder to get a hold of, and now the wrapper comes in colors that scream…LOOK AT ME!! The only thing that’s discreet about these pups is the string that is shorter now (YUCK!) Not a good thing! There is nothing like running to the bathroom with an un-expected accident only to do acrobatics to get the sucker out! Also, I was up every hour the first night of “Aunt Flo’s” appearance and had to dash to the bathroom with a towel precariously between my legs because of the under performing product. My boyfriend didn’t ask why… How’s that for discreet.
It’s sad to say the generic brands similar to [old-style]Tampax out-perform the newer version of the name-brand Tampax. I think these things have more rayon in them as well, because they irritate me more. Isn’t a higher content of rayon what makes you more susceptible to Toxic shock?
I’ve never been a fan of Playtex either, and if the generics follow the newer Tampax design, I might have better luck with a diaphragm!!
And forget about sports……….Now I know how my Mom felt certain times of the month.
Thanks Raluca,
We both own and use Diva Cups. We’ve reviewed it on the show many times. Tampons, however, still have a place and time as far as I am concerned. Menstrual protection is very personal.
NSFW = Not Safe For Work
I also hate the new Tampax! I have been writing to Proctor and Gamble since Sept. of 07. It is a terrible product. Too short, and very uncomfortable. I have never had more trouble with a tampon. I have had leaks and am very dissatisfied. Try the “CVS brand”. Also have a look at how many other women are unhappy here…. http://iambossy.typepad.com/i_am_bossy/2007/07/bossys-product-.html

So now I realize that my friends and I aren’t the only ones who cannot stand the new Tampax design. I’ve been using this brand for 21 years and I’ve never had a problem — they never hurt, I was never aware of the tampon once it was in, and the applicator never hurt. With this new design, all of these are a problem every time! They are so uncomfortable that I feel it all the time — sometimes sitting is painful. And I get pinched by the applicator almost every time I insert one. What a lovely feeling that is. And of course, they leak constantly. Just this morning I woke up to an “accident” despite using a super plus. I’m way too old for that to be happening. Can anyone suggest a brand that’s similar to the old design — one that’s longer? I think that might be part of the problem. The new tampon is too short to be flexible. My period lasts 7-8 days and these tampons are putting me in a bad mood because I’m uncomfortable all the time. I can’t spend a week every month miserable. HELP!!
Pinching check (glad to know it’s not just me. I thought maybe I was getting too old and loosing coordination).
Leaking. Oh god yes! And somehow, it’s like it absorbing things other than blood. So, when I sit it’s like squeezing a water soaked cotton ball! WTF? Makes getting in and out of the car to see clients a complete blast!
Glad I’m not the only one! These things blow. If I could find some of the old ones, I could sell them on the black market for big bucks. LOL.
I’ll be trying the CVS brand someone mentioned.
God I have written to them and still ….these damn things are on the market…why wont they bring back the old ones….I search everywhere i go for the old ones….if i would have know this ,,,i would have bought thousands before they quit selling them..(old style). !! Everyone on here is right !! THEY SUCK !! I dont know what CVS is..but Im looking for it tomorrow… !! Anything has to be better than this crap they have now…does not work at all…leaks and uncomfortable… !!
Glad to hear I’m not the only one! I’ve been using Tampax for years and I have never had trouble putting one in until these wretched knock-offs started passing themselves off as Tampax! I agree that a man must have had a hand in this “improvement”! I’ve found that the Equate brand feels almost identical to the old Tampax design. Absorbancies are a spot-on match too. Only found at Wal-Mart though.
