Episode #144 – Two Blushes, Eyeliner, and Guest Host Jamie Sanford!
Sep 22nd, 2009 by Airdrie
This week we launch into our new format of having a weekly guest host.

This week’s guest host is Jamie Sanford (twitter @jamiesanford), one of L&L’s original listeners. Jamie talks about her love of eyeliner, Nine Inch Nails, and Bare Minerals make-up. Jamie lives in New Jersey, and we recorded this podcast using Skype.
This week we review the following products:
Tarte “green siren” limited-edition natural cheek stain
With the purchase of every tarte green siren natural cheek stain, you’ll be supporting Sambazon’s Sustainable Acai Project (SAP), a member of the Fair Trade Federation, which helps to preserve the Amazon Rainforest through conservation, improved living conditions and educational opportunities for communities in Brazil.
The tarte t5 super fruit complex™ is a proprietary blend of the five most active superfruits: goji, acai, maracuja, acerola and pomegranate. Just wanted to leave a quick comment about the show. I think the first episode of the new format went really well! I was impressed with the sound quality and I think that Jamie and Airdrie had good chemistry on the show too. (Still miss Kerry Anne though). I will have to check out if that gel eyeliner is available from Wet n’Wild in Canada as I’ve been meaning to try gel eyeliner out for a while now. I’ll have to check out Coralista too!
I was finally able to catch up on my Lipstick and Laptop podcasts on the way home from camping today. I’m sad that Kerry Anne is gone, as I love the banter that occured between her and Airdrie. I have to admit up front that I don’t like change, but I listened with an open mind. Unfortunately, my fast forward on the iPod got a LOT of use during this episode. While this episode had good sound and good product review, it seemed like something was lacking. I didn’t feel that the guest host had much to contribute in the way of make-up, etc… I guess I like the way that the banter could go between Kerry Anne and Airdrie much easier than it did today. I hope that the podcast continues, as I do love the info and entertainment I get from it, but I can only hope for better guest hosts.—maybe someone local that can sit in the same room as Airdrie? That may give a better feel to the podcast.
Thanks for your input, ladies. Maggie, I will be having an in-studio guest for both the Oct. 7, and Oct. 21 podcasts. Despite what you think, I was very impressed with the quality of Jamie’s reviews; I’m sorry you were disappointed.
I though Jamie’s product reviews were great. It, reviewing, sounds a lot easier than it actually is. Airdrie and Kerry Anne just make it SEEM effortless.
I listened to the podcast and I thought Jamie was great. She was extremely well spoken, and had good product knowledge too. There may not have been the same rapport that Air and I have but we’ve known each other for some time. I think that having new guests is going to keep L&L interesting.
Hi,
Love your podcast. I just listened to the newest one.
I was a die hard Bare Minerals fan, still am actually. But I found
a less expensive substitute for Bare Minerals Summer Bisque (an
excellent concealer). It’s Physician’s Formula (don’t know if they
carry this line in Canada) 3-in-1 On The Go Concealer, Foundation
and Powder. I don’t like the packaging, it is a tube with a brush
and you are meant to click the top and the product is supposed to
come out. I just opened it up and poured some into an empty
Summer Bisque container. I love it. I will put some extra into
the cap of the item and keep it in my bag. It’s a new product
and the customer rep at the company said she had problems getting the product out too, so maybe they will work on this. The box says it’s for extra sensitive or break-out prone skin. It is
quite a bit cheaper than the Bare Minerals Summer Bisque. I got
mine at Ulta, it was buy one, get one 50% off and you can use
the store coupon. So, I got 2 for $11 total with tax. Not bad.
Keep up the great work!
Hi, great show! I’m so glad you decided to continue the show with guest hosts. Jamie was great.
In response to the Wet ‘n’ Wild gel liner, I wanted to give a link to this makeup tutorial on YouTube. Lauren Luke (panacea81) shows you how to make gel liners smokey and smudgey. It’s quite dramatic, but I liked the idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Ll7xNBkJ_k
I enjoyed the show with Jamie, I thought she did great and I liked her. :) I would like to hear more of her!
