Kerry Anne's Reviews:

sheerobsessionI recently discovered Sheer Obsession, which was launched in 2002 and has apparently been discontinued. Where have I been? Anyway, I’m going to have to stock up on this one. It’s lighter than it’s original counterpart, and is also less sweet. The incense part of the perfume has been toned down, and when I wear it, I don't feel like I'm back in the eighties.

Sheer Obsession has notes of mandarin, bergamot, vanilla, exotic spices, amber, incense and musk, and can be found at deep discounts at some internet retail sites, and between $45 and $60 and retail stores.

JARyubeI found a small treasure in the TestTube. According to the website, Yu-Be (pronounced "YOO-BEE") is the "#1 selling medicated, vitamin-enriched skin care cream in Japan." I enjoyed the smell of it, which is slightly camphor-ish upon application. The manufacturers claim Yu-Be is not greasy. I found that it is actually a bit greasy initially, but quickly dissipates, leaving you with soft, smooth hands. To find a Yu-Be retailer near you, go to their website. The 1.25oz jar costs $15US, and the 4.25 oz is $28US.

If you’d like to sample Yu-Be, the site offers a “free” 3-Pack of Yu-Be .01oz Sample Tubes, for only $4.95 to cover shipping/handling costs. Offer available in US only.

Airdrie Introduces Some New Products for 2007:

1. Clairol Nice n' Easy Color Seal, Weekly Conditioning Gloss ($4.49US). Coming in March 2007. We will review this new product in a future show.

2. Skin MD Shielding Lotion.

3. UltimK killtime Face and eye creams ($110, $70 US). Direct from France, this award-winning face cream will be put to the test by us, and reviewed in a future show.

Listen to the entire show for details on how to enter our blues-busting drawing-tacular winter give-away: Clairol + Skin MD, UltimK killtime, and Neutrogena giftbag from the snagged from the Vancouver premiere of the movie Partition.

Yay, great episode! Yep, it's pronounced "BAR-ACH" Obama. :) Like going to a bar, bar. He's an amazing guy. In Newsweek, they interviewed his wife, Michelle Obama, who is a remarkable, beautiful lady as well. And I love NotMartha's blog! She has a lip balm recipe on there.

BTW - Hugh Heffner doesn't run Playboy Magazine anymore. His daughter runs the whole empire - Her name is Christine Heffner. I wonder what his daughter thought of his stupidity?

Keep up the great work! Janice from Chicago.

Hi Kerry Anne and Airdrie,
great show!

Kerry Anne, I wouldn't buy another bottle of the sheer obsession - don't you think that by the time you're done the bottle you'll be bored of it? Plus, by the time you've gone through it, you'll come across another perfume that you really like and want to have... That's what usually happens to me anyway.

Oh yes, the name of the actor in Partition is Jimmi Mistry. :)

The phrase you were looking for at the beginning of the episode was probably "back to the status quo" -- saying "back to the quid pro quo" doesn't make any sense, because it would mean "back to the something for something," which is a rough translation of quid pro quo.

Hey,

I hope Derek is doing well and I wanted to know if you knew about The Canadian Beauty Blog? I don't remember you mentioning it on a show. I discovered it through links on a blog.

It focuses on products that you can find in Canada.

I'm testing it again, but it seems to work fine (it's the same file when you click the player on the website, so if that works, iTunes should work too).

If you had a download problem, here's what you can do to redownload it:

1. In iTunes, find LGL #47 in the Podcasts list and select it.

2. Right-click (Windows) or Ctrl-click (Mac) and choose Delete (iTunes may ask if you want to delete the file or just the listing -- delete the file right to the Trash/Recycling Bin).

3. Click the little triangle to the left of the Lip Gloss and Laptops podcast name to "zip up" the list of episodes.

4. Now, hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) and click the triangle again to "zip down" the list again. What this does is get iTunes to check the LGL website again and download any deleted episodes -- like the one you just trashed.

5. You may have to click the Get button to force the download. Then you can wait for the file again.

I'm doing that right now, but it seems to be working okay. Let me know if you have more trouble.

I am just listening to last weeks show today. I am a bit behind. Anyway I have been a listener since day one!! I am just up the road from you in Prince George. Anyway, I ship within Canada and to the USA almost daily, and it is horrible that it costs more to ship to Edmonton than it does to ship the same package to Florida. Sad really.

Best wishes
Chey

I work with MAC and we have a new limited edition color collection coming out in 2007 that is inspired by Barbie. If you go to the website www.barbielovesmac.com you can sign-up so you’ll know when the collection is available. I know that the site will have a cool Barbie video (with really fun retro footage) and Barbie looks with face charts.
