Airdrie's Review
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse (approx $10) Airdrie liked this product becasue it is not greasy and goes-on smooth. The colour was a little too orange for her, but did blend well. It did not last all day on Airdrie's oily face, but not much does. The product had mixed reviews on Make-up Alley. One of the best things about this mousse-like product is it cannot spill onto your clothes by accident, and travels well.
Kerry Anne's Reviews
I picked up a lipstick from Sephora's own line and I love it. These lipsticks range in price from $5-$10US, and the colour selection is extensive. They are comparable to drugstore lipsticks, as the colour I chose is not very long lasting. The texture is very smooth and silky, and the scent is light and vaguely reminiscent of the Pop Rocks candy I used eat as a kid. It is a very basic lipstick that claims to do nothing more than put colour on your lips. I recommend it.
The beauty/fashion industry is always raving about OPI Nail Polish in I'm Really Not a Waitress. I, myself, own the colour, and think it is just a nice regular red. By the way, did you know that OPI also makes a coordinating Lip Colour and Lip Liner for this polish?
OPI has an ever-evolving plethora of shades, which are highly pigmented and nicely chip-resistant. The price tag, however, is a bit high for a girl who likes to cut corners where she can.
For my money, I like the Rimmel Lycra Wear Lasting Finish in Russet Flame, another gorgeous red, with a tone slightly warmer than OPI's Waitress. It is also a great shade for Autumn.
The Rimmel product covers nails beautifully with one coat, but I suggest two for a longer lasting finish. The Lycra apparently reduces chipping by bending and flexing with the nail. I've had Rimmel polishes for two years that still don't get so thick that you can't work with them. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I do think that Rimmel has some wonderful products at a very reasonable price. ($2.29US or $3.99CA for 12ml)
NOTE: I feel compelled to tell you that OPI polishes contain a controversial ingredient, DBP, and that there are numerous articles on the web that can tell you more about this issue.
Aquolina Pink Sugar. Altogether too sugary for me, as is Chocolovers, another perfume from this line. If you do like sweet, foodie scents that smell very much like cotton candy or chocolate, check this affordable line out. Prices for their products range from $12 to $50US. I give them a resounding YUCK as they give me a headache immediately.
If you sweet scents, and want a fragrance that is a bit more sophisticated than these, check out the Comptoir Sud Pacifique line.
Reality Check: Belly Fat is not your Friend
Having excess belly fat is now associated with serious health problems. It's *OK* to diet and exercise, especially in light of this fact. When choosing a diet plan, we recommend something balanced. Airdrie is doing the Weight-Watchers Diet right now, and Kerry-Anne is doing her own thing. Look for a diet that fit's into your lifestyle, and that results in slow-and-steady weight loss, and has a realistic maintenance plan to keep the fat off. Be sure to talk to your family doctor before starting a diet.

FAO: The Lipgloss Girls!
Thanks ever so much for playing one of my songs on your show, not only do I appear to have a couple of new fans of my music I've also learnt a lot about facial masks for men & that I should be applying moisturiser far more often than once a week! Thanks again ladies

Great episode, Gals! I nearly LOL'ed at work with the "U-G-L-Y!" cheer! :D You're gonna get me in trouble, someday.
One book I've found useful for home-made beauty stuff is "Natural Beauty at Home," by Janice Cox. I've tried making a few lip glosses already (they're much more like lip balms). I've tried making a lotion in my blender, too - that didn't quite work out, yet. I'm still learning. Her instructions on scented dusting powder are easy-peasy. I can highly recommend this as a good book for a beginner who wants to try DYI beauty. It's available at Amazon - http://tinyurl.com/oqekb
I've read some comments on Amazon that says you should be VERY careful when trying to make your own soaps, though, because lye is a dangerous thing to work with.
Anyway, hope this helps for an upcoming "homemade beauty stuff" show!
Happy Wednesday! Janice B. from Chicago (yep, me again!)
Hey girls, I just wanted to tell you about a product called Clarex OC, it's called OC8 in the US and the UK. In the UK you can get it from any store, in the US it's over the counter, and in Canada it's prescription only. The product stops you from getting oily skin. It actually works but you have to experiment how to use it with your makeup. You might want to try it out if oily skin is a problem for you. I mix it with Covergirl Trumatch foundation (the regular kind) and I get nice sheer coverage that evens out my skintone and prevents my skin from being too oily. I might need to blot once a day, but overall it's not too bad, especially in the winter. Just thought I'd let you and your readers know because it was a real help for me.
I totally agree with the belly fat issue, and have been noticing myself get a bit lazy in exercising simply because of lack of time. I'm eating less, but not taking enough walks: my favourite form of exercise. And a small bulge has developed on the front of my tummy. I'm definitely taking a walk tomorrow before school, but want to encourage my boyfriend to start losing weight. I'm relatively normal sized (5'5, 125 lbs.) but my bf is 40 lbs overweight. It's more of the health risk he's facing that worries me; how do I get him motivated to lose the weight? I know it's different when you choose to lose weight on your own because it comes from within. How can I get him to realize that it's imperative that he get healthier for health reasons?
Btw: good luck with your healthy weight loss!
Hello, ladies! I'm a new listener, but I like what I'm hearing so far. I just downloaded the episode where you were talking about youtube and having celebrity crushes (or, in your cases, not having one...) I'm a lesbian, and some of my crushes are totally obscure so I've found youtube to be a great place to view the work of some celebrity crushes that I would otherwise have a hard time finding. My latest one is an actress named Lynn Chen who played a lipstick lesbian (even though you guys are straight, you can appreciate the "lipstick" part, right?) in a great lesbian movie called "Saving Face" and I've found a lot of her other work on youtube that I never would've gotten to see otherwise. Anyway, keep up the great work, and if you guys could review some of those airbrush leg sprays sometime that would be awesome!
I've always been a bit fearful about trying that mattee stuff myself. I have combination skin and I don't know how it would react on me.
I do want to note that my favorite (so far) foundation would have to be true match by loreal (which is great if you have uneven skin tone) and covergirl true radiance. I am 27 but don't have the skin of a 27 year old, much younger than that but the lines that I do have really get nicely thinned out with that stuff.
Thanks again for all those tips!!
OMG Lynn Chen is awesome! She's my celebrity crush too.
You'll like episode 56 even better then!
