Episode 22 - This Ain't Your Mama's Makeup

Max Factor recently relaunched their product line with some spiffy new branding, and a new spokesmodel, Carmen Electra.
On board with the New Max Factor as their U.S. Color Cosmetics Creative Design Director, is Pat McGrath, a very accomplished makeup artist and expert in all things beauty.
We tried some of the products from the new line and were impressed by their quality and price.
MAXeye Liner is an automatic pencil that comes in 8 shades and goes on and stays on like a more expensive liner. The Max Factor website says that the "mechanical pencil that never has to be sharpened", but stuck one on the end anyway, so you can get your lines as precise as you like. Airdrie was impressed by how smoothly this product glides on, and stays on. This product contains Vitamin E and Vitamin C esters, known for their antioxidant properties. A professional quality item available at Wal-Mart and other drugstores; we recommend this product. (Average retail price $6.25 US)
MAXwear Lip Colors and Gloss Duos are brand new for July 2006, and come in 26 long-wearing shades. This product comes in a dual-ended tube, one with the long-wear colour, and the other a gloss. We found that the colour was comfortable and nicely resistant to a greasy Chinese food lunch. That's hardcore! How is this possible? A little research told us that the formula features semi-permanent PermaTone (TM), a unique complex of pigments and silicone-based polymers that is resistant to abrasion and virtually impervious to food oils. (Average retail price $9.50 US) Find products at Max Factor dot com.
Airdrie tried the new Lash Perfection Mascara in the waterproof formula and found it incredibly water resistant. It reminded her very much of Cover Girl's Lash Exact which she reviewed a few months ago. The plastic bristles on this brush make it stand-out from the crowd. Thumbs up to this one, but you'll need some elbow grease to remove it. (Average retail price $7.75 US)
Airdrie picked up a Rimmel Jelly Gloss at a deep discount recently. We thought that may have been discontinuing product, but alas, have just changed the packaging. Air tried the one with the wand, and they've since started selling them in the tube. Regardless, this one is great for gals who don't like the sticky "tacky" feeling that many glosses currently have. It does have a light scent and fruity taste and feels like a throwback to our childhood. Maybe that's why we like this one so much. Oh, and it does give you a hint of sheer colour, too.
Speaking of Rimmel, if you've ever wanted to look like an indie rock chick but were afraid to ask, they'll give you a how-to at their site. Rock-On Sister!

Hi ladies,
Thanks for another great show. I am hoping to win the Max Factor drawing, but if not, I will be forced to buy some.
I've started using a new shampoo and conditioner and I must say that I'm in love. Here's a link:

The Time Renewal shampoo and conditioner are both blue, which I am enamored with (I think it's some sort of holdover from childhood). It makes my hair feel fresh and clean without feeling overconditioned. I hope that explains it in a way that translates to everyone.
My next product to try from this line is the Time Renewal Replenishing Mask. I'm excited to experience this product, which claims to "dramatically quench parched strands, leaving hair supple and restored." I'll be sure to leave a note letting you know how that goes.
One last thing. I fully support nudity in conjunction with major landmarks!

iwas motivated by this weeks show to root through the many many many many MANY millions of old make up items i have been toting around. actually i have tossed quite a few things.... going to make room for the new! not sure if i previously mentioned that i tried the queen latifah version of the mascara and i really like it!
went roaming through nordstroms this weekend, wanted to find those marc jacobs splashes to sniff, but became waylaid by the purse section! there were a ton of people in the make up area, so i didn't get to it, want to go back and peruse the bobbie brown section....
Do you know how hard it is to find Max Factor makeup? I've been to 3 stores to find this stuff before I went to their webpage and used their location finder. I feel as though I am trying to buy some contraband when all I am after is lipgloss.
Okay, I'm not sure where you are, but I'll give you the "where to buy" link from the Max Factor site
For the USA http://www.maxfactor.com/user/get/where_to_buy.do
They have similar links for other countries, but not Canada. In Canada, it should be available at Walmart, maybe Superstore? I'll let you know if I see it anywhere.
