Drysol antiperspirant
Kerry Anne experiments with Drysol. It's an industrial strength anti-perspirant available at the pharmacy counter in Canada, or by prescription elsewhere.
Apply before bed for three nights and then use about twice weekly thereafter. Stings like hell if your armpits are wet, or if you've just shaved, so do take heed of the package warnings. This product, which can also be used for hyperhydrosis on hands and feet, will keep you super dry. Drysol has been a lifechanging product for many of its users, but if you are leery about aluminum chloride, do the research and decide for yourself whether the benefits outweigh the risks. I recommend it only for women who have found other products ineffective in controlling perspiration. Available in a solution or Dab-o-matic, which is essentially a bingo dabber. Fun with hygiene! ($17.00CA/available in US by prescription)
Napoleon Perdis lip gloss
Napoleon Perdis Lip Lacquer in Baby Lips. I bought this lip lacquer two weeks ago and bring it everywhere with me. It comes in a big tube, and it's super sticky, with good lasting power for a gloss. I like the natural colour, which looks like dark bronzey-pink in the tube, but appears almost colourless on the lips. It actually makes my thin lips look a tad plumper, too.
Airdrie gives this the thumbs down, and finds it reminiscent of Yardley's Pot O' Gloss circa 1977. So there, you go, one thumb way up, one thumb down. You'll have to test it yourself at your local Napoleon counter at The Bay in Canada or Saks in the US. Available in six colours. ($20US or $22CA for 21mL/0.75 fl oz)
Reality check: real beauty
Airdrie gives a shout-out to a new book by Audrey Brashich, called All Made Up: A Girl’s Guide to Seeing Through Celebrity Hype and Celebrating Real Beauty (Walker & Company, $21.95). Read a review in the Georgia Straight Newspaper. Audrey also has a wonderful blog where you can learn more.
Thanks again to The Cat Empire and Indica Records for sending us their music to play. Get 'em at iTunes too.
